The online-only model in emerging markets has been instrumental in
the success of many a player, especially newcomers. It appears as though
veteran makers like Samsung have taken a leaf out of their books to
give the end user the benefit of more direct supply chain. Not long
back, Samsung teased a Galaxy Grand phone,
presumably the Grand 3. The company talked about the device yet again
today, along with a message that read, “Samsung to launch the new Grand
series smartphone exclusively on Snapdeal.com. The slim and stylish
device is already making waves internationally,” according to BGR India.
This means only one thing — the Galaxy Grand 3 will be a Snapdeal exclusive. If you aren’t aware, a lot of recent releases in India have not only been online-only, but OEMs have also restricted sales to a single e-commerce portal. A few examples: Xiaomi Redmi series (Flipkart), Android One (various), OnePlus One (Amazon), etc
